Woman attending a wedding was arrested with approximately 14 kilos of fentanyl pills

A woman attending a wedding was arrested with nearly 14 pounds of fentanyl pills, authorities reported.

Ashley Rayanna Garcia is charged with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl.

According to the criminal complaint, a DPS trooper stopped a car on I-40 in Oldham County on Oct. 23 for following too closely and not wearing a seat belt.

The driver did not allow the vehicle to be searched.

Another trooper brought a K-9, which alerted the vehicle and gave them probable cause to search.

DPS said troopers found seven plastic bags containing fentanyl pills weighing 13.88 pounds.

Garcia said he was traveling from Phoenix to Nashville for a wedding and needed to deliver the medication while he was there.

He claimed to be the owner of the fentanyl and said the driver and the other female passenger were not involved.
