With one week until Election Day, both Harris and Trump campaigns are meeting with transition planning officials

A week before Election Day, federal agency transition members met with representatives from both the Harris and Trump campaigns on Tuesday, ABC News confirmed.

Previously, the Trump team had exceeded ethics and financing agreement deadlines.

A White House spokesperson confirmed the meeting in a statement.

“On Tuesday, October 29, the Council of Agency Transition Directors (ATDC) met at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building. ATDC has been meeting regularly for months to prepare for the transition, and representatives from both transition teams attended this week’s meeting,” the statement said. “The meeting focused on post-election preparation to ensure agencies and transition teams are prepared to execute responsibly and efficiently.”

The White House said the Federal Transition Coordinator is in constant communication with both candidate transition teams. In September, White House chief of staff Jeff Zients convened the White House Transition Coordinating Committee in a meeting that included representatives from both candidate transition teams.

Earlier this month, two new members of Harris’ transition team told ABC News that she wasn’t assuming anything.

They said they were a bit behind given his relatively short time as a presidential candidate.

They insisted he wasn’t “measuring the pitches” and focused on the campaign, stating that if you lose there will be no crossover.

“The last thing in the world we want to do is make noise or be a distraction, and frankly that’s not where his head is or should be,” one team member told ABC News.

They said his team was doing more work behind the scenes to “put the bones together” and “make sure he can hit the ground running” if he wins.

This work includes making lawyers available to vet potential staff.
