According to arrest reports, shortly before 10 a.m. Monday, Davenport Police responded to a warehouse at 1000 Blythwood Place following a report of a burglary.

A relative of Adams rents storage unit 11, which shares a wall with unit 10 to the north and a wall with unit 12 to the south, according to testimony. Police said that at an unknown time on or about Oct. 14, Adams removed the wood paneling on the wall separating Units 11 and 12 and entered Unit 12 “without any lawful purpose and without the permission of the owner.”

Affidavits show Adams stole a toolbox “containing numerous tools.” Adams “hid these items in (his relative’s) apartment. The owner’s total value and loss was $650.”

After being read his Miranda Rights, Adams “admitted that he committed this act to finance his methamphetamine addiction,” the affidavits state.

Police said in an affidavit that at an unknown time on Sunday, Adams removed the wooden panel on the wall separating Units 11 and 10 and entered Unit 10. “He then stole 2 bags containing Christmas decorations, a wooden cupboard, a trunk with reels, fishing rods, a metal detector and welding machine boxes.”

Adams then stored these items in his relative’s unit. According to testimony, the owner’s total loss was $520.

Affidavits show that after being read his Miranda Rights, Adams admitted to committing the act to finance his meth addiction.

0.4 grams of meth, divided between clear plastic bags, was found in Adams’ wallet. Police said in an affidavit that Adams “admitted that the methamphetamine belonged to him and that he was addicted to it.”

In Adams’ right front pocket was a glass pipe used for smoking narcotics. Police said in an affidavit that Adams admitted the pipe belonged to him and that he used it to smoke meth.

Adams, who was being held Tuesday night in the Scott County Jail on $5,000 bail, is scheduled to appear in Scott County Court on Nov. 21.
