Three Chinese nationals arrested for theft in KLIA

SEPANG: Three Chinese nationals were caught by the police following a theft at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

KLIA OCPD Deputy Commissioner Azman Shariat said a Japanese man filed a complaint on October 22 after discovering his wallet was missing while trying to make a payment in Petaling Jaya the previous day.

“When he noticed that his bag was unzipped while he was in Terminal 1, he suspected that his bag had been opened and his wallet had been stolen. “In addition, he received notifications about 3 unauthorized transactions on his phone,” he said.

“This caused him to stop all his debit cards. “The estimated loss from these transactions is around RM7,622,” he added.

Following an investigation into the theft, police arrested three Chinese citizens at Terminal 1 on October 25.

Azman confirmed that police are continuing to investigate the suspects to determine whether they are linked to other pickpocketing incidents.

“They will be charged at the Sepang courthouse on Wednesday, October 30,” he said.
