23-year-old man faces charges in Needham crash that seriously injured two pedestrians

A 23-year-old Boston man will be charged after allegedly hitting two pedestrians with his vehicle Monday in Needham. Authorities said they initially drove away before returning to the scene of the crash.

The man will be subpoenaed on charges of leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, operating with a suspended license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle, Needham Deputy Police Chief Chris Baker said Tuesday. expression.

Police are not releasing the driver’s name because he has not been arrested, Baker said.

Police said the crash happened at the intersection of Hunnewell and West streets shortly after 7 p.m.

A man identifying himself as the driver after returning to the scene of the accident he told WCVB-TV He said he initially ran away because he was afraid.

He said he would “go to the street around 25, 30” when leaving work.

“I swear to God it was literally, I don’t know, like something was right in front of me the moment it happened,” he told the station.

Both pedestrians were taken to a hospital in Boston with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Their names, ages and genders were not disclosed.
