Police say two Boston men were arrested for stealing an iPhone package from the porch of a Billerica home

Two Boston men were arrested for allegedly stealing an Apple iPhone package from the porch of a Billerica home, police said.

Daneuri Diaz Romero, 24, and Yonaykin Guerrero Peguero, 25, will be arraigned Thursday in Lowell District Court on charges of theft over $1,200, Billerica police said in a statement.

Guerrero Peguero also faces additional charges including failure to stop for police, failure to stop at a stop sign, reckless driving and speeding, the statement said.

At 11:18 a.m., police were monitoring FedEx iPhone deliveries following a recent spate of thefts across the region. They noticed a suspect, later identified as Diaz Romero, take an iPhone box that was delivered to a home on Nealley Street, according to the release.

Police said Diaz Romero fled in a nearby vehicle driven by another suspect, later identified as Guerrero Peguero, and threw the package away.

Billerica police released the vehicle’s description and license plate number. A short time later, police in Burlington spotted the vehicle near Simonds Park and pulled it over.

Police said the men were arrested without incident.
