Manhattan man arrested for attempted murder in midnight stabbing

The Riley County Police Department announced Wednesday afternoon that it arrested a local man on charges of attempted murder and aggravated battery.

RCPD issued a press release around 1:30 p.m. announcing the arrest of 53-year-old Marcus Washington on charges of attempted murder and aggravated battery in connection with a stabbing that occurred Tuesday night.

On Tuesday, RCPD officers responded to a report of a stabbing in the 400 block of Walters Dr. in Manhattan around 10:45 p.m. A 39-year-old man was listed as the victim when Washington stabbed him with a knife. It was learned that the injured person was under treatment and his condition was stable.

Washington was issued a bond totaling $250,000 and was being held in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

Additionally, Alvin Love, 41, and Nichole Cochrun, 26, of Manhattan were arrested for interfering with law enforcement and hindering prosecution. Both men were given bond totaling $10,000 and remain held in the Riley County Jail.
