954 primary education and special education students have a tourism experience

WILLEMSTAD – From September 23 to October 23, the Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) organized the second edition of the Children’s Tourism Experience for students of primary and special education schools. Within the scope of the project, students participated in various tours, workshops and training activities to get to know the tourism sector. The project is part of a program to promote tourism in schools that was launched two years ago. The aim of introducing tourism as a subject is to help increase students’ knowledge of the importance of tourism to our island and at the same time increase their interest in this vital sector. This year, as last year, 5th group students are learning about tourism through videos and a workbook, and this time they had the opportunity to experience first-hand some of what they saw in the videos. A total of 954 students from 28 schools participated in Children’s Tourism Experience 2024.

Within the scope of Children’s Tourism Experience 2024, students participated in various educational trips. They visited the airport to see how tourists enter our island, explored hotels where tourists can stay, engaged in various cultural activities, visited the Mega Pier to observe the arrival of cruise passengers and various attractions such as Amazonia, tram ride, submarine experience, Ostrich Farm and much more. A total of 22 partners operating in the tourism sector voluntarily opened their doors for students to experience their products and services. Students asked many questions to help them better understand what they were learning in their tourism classes. Transportation expenses to visit various places were covered by CTB. This year, participating partners provided students with an unforgettable experience. CTB is currently working on introducing tourism as a topic in the 6th batch as well, and the material will include various videos on interesting topics related to tourism.
