How Will Worldpay and Klarna Integrate Global Payment Systems?

“We want Klarna to be available at every checkout, everywhere, for everything, all the time,” says Klarna Commercial Manager David Sykes. “This expanded partnership is a major step towards this goal, making Klarna the default payment method for hundreds of thousands of retailers.”

Payment development

Processing 2.5 million transactions a day through its network of 600,000 merchants, including Uber, Nike and Airbnb, Klarna has moved beyond its buy now-pay later origins. The platform now processes instant payments via direct bank transfers and card payments for 30% of total transaction volume.

The expansion of services reflects Klarna’s evolution from a specialist buy now-pay later provider to a comprehensive payments network. The company’s platform now includes AI for payment processing and shopping assistance, offering consumers multiple payment options at checkout.

Market integration

The partnership marks a shift in how alternative payment methods are integrated into e-commerce platforms. Rather than merchants specifically requesting Klarna services, the payment option will now be offered as a standard feature through Worldpay’s payment processing infrastructure.
